CBD BELAPUR: Vashi police station in Sector 3 of the node has been adjudged the cleanest government office under the special cleanliness drive competition conducted by the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) of government offices and buildings.

A total of 26 government offices participated in the competition drive conducted by NMMC from March 1 to 15. The offices were rated on 13 criteria by a special committee.

The result was announced by mayor Sudhakar Sonawane at a press conference called earlier this week.

Sonawane said, “NMMC’s Vashi based Education and Training Centre (ETC) for person with disability had actually topped in all criteria. We have however decided not to award our organisation and instead given an opportunity to other government offices.”

While Vashi police station has topped in the competition, Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd. office in CBD Belapur has come second. The Local Body Tax office in Kopar Khairane is in the third place in terms of cleanliness.

Consolation prizes have been given to Konkan Divisional office at Konkan Bhavan in CBD Belapur, APMC main administrative building in Sector 19, Vashi.

A programme will soon be organised by the NMMC to present the awards and certificates to the winners.

Sonawane said, “The NMMC will take initiative to ensure there is increased participation and all government offices contribute toward cleanliness and hygiene in the city. We will pay special attention to areas where there are problems.”

Ajaykumar Landge, senior police inspector of Vashi police station, is elated.

“We are honoured at getting the recognition. This has happened due to the special efforts of all officers and personnel at the police station and the guidance of our seniors,” said Landge.

He added, “We have laid special stress on hygiene and cleanliness on our premises so that the residents who come here get positive vibes and feel relaxed in a comforting and hygienic environment.”
