‘PLANNED TO HOLD FUNDRAISER FOR SHIV SENA IN US’

MUMBAI: Pakistani- American LeT operative David Coleman Headley had plotted a Shiv Sena fundraiser in the US and invited party leader Bal Thackeray. There was no known intention to kill Thackeray there, even though he was on the outfit’s hitlist.

Headley, who was arrested in Chicago for his role in the 2008 Mumbai attacks, told a Mumbai sessions court via video link from an undisclosed US prison that the LeT knew about his fundraiser plan. “However, that plan never happened,” the 55-year-old said in reply to defence lawyer Abdul Wahab Khan’s questions about plans to kill Thackeray.
