WHAT THE HIGH COURT ORDER SAID
Rampant illegal constructions in the city, particularly Digha, received a huge jolt after the Bombay high court ordered in September 2015, the demolition of 99 illegal buildings, in Digha, rendering more than 200 families homeless
Expressing concern over the rising number of illegal buildings in Navi Mumbai, the bench asked the sub-divisional officer to assign the planning agencies — Cidco, NMMC and MIDC — the task of demolishing illegal structures in areas under their jurisdiction
The court also asked MIDC and Cidco to file criminal cases against those responsible for the construction of illegal buildings
