Bypolls to be held at Yadav Nagar ward today, result by evening
AIROLI: Yadav Nagar ward number 6 of Digha goes to poll on Sunday.
The hectic campaigning by the Shiv Sena – BJP – Congress combine that is collectively aiming to unseat the NCP from its stronghold for years. The counting too is slated for Sunday.
The by-election is being held due to the disqualification of NCP corporator Sangeeta Yadav allegedly over submission of bogus caste certificate.
The opposition has put up a common independent candidate Madhumati Pal who is contesting against NCP’s Sandhya Yadav.
The ward is reserved for women candidate. Pal is reported to be a Congress worker.
With the NCP precariously placed in the house as it does not have enough numbers of
its own, the Shiv Sena is leaving no stone unturned to exploit the situation and make things more difficult for it and its leader former minister Ganesh Naik.
State and guardian minister Eknath Shinde has taken personal
interest in the election with member of Parliament Rajan Vichare campaigning in the entire ward. Shiv Sena opposition leader Vijay Chougule has virtually been camping in the ward for the past two weeks.
