By­polls to be held at Ya­dav Na­gar ward to­day, re­sult by evening

AIROLI: Ya­dav Na­gar ward num­ber 6 of Digha goes to poll on Sun­day.

The hec­tic cam­paign­ing by the Shiv Sena – BJP – Congress com­bine that is col­lec­tively aim­ing to un­seat the NCP from its strong­hold for years. The count­ing too is slated for Sun­day.

The by-elec­tion is be­ing held due to the dis­qual­i­fi­ca­tion of NCP cor­po­ra­tor Sangeeta Ya­dav al­legedly over sub­mis­sion of bo­gus caste cer­tifi­cate.

The op­po­si­tion has put up a com­mon in­de­pen­dent can­di­date Mad­hu­mati Pal who is con­test­ing against NCP’s Sand­hya Ya­dav.

The ward is re­served for women can­di­date. Pal is re­ported to be a Congress worker.

With the NCP pre­car­i­ously placed in the house as it does not have enough num­bers of

its own, the Shiv Sena is leav­ing no stone un­turned to ex­ploit the sit­u­a­tion and make things more dif­fi­cult for it and its leader for­mer min­is­ter Ganesh Naik.

State and guardian min­is­ter Ek­nath Shinde has taken per­sonal

in­ter­est in the elec­tion with mem­ber of Par­lia­ment Ra­jan Vichare cam­paign­ing in the en­tire ward. Shiv Sena op­po­si­tion leader Vi­jay Chougule has vir­tu­ally been camp­ing in the ward for the past two weeks.
