The much delayed Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) project has inched closer to reality with Cidco on track on its target of first flight in December 2019.

Cidco has started giving bid documents to the three shortlisted bidders that were approved by the state cabinet two weeks ago.

According to CIDCO joint managing director, V. Radha, “Today bid documents are being given to the shot-listed bidders. They will be given 4-5 months to respond.”

She said, “While we do have the broad plans of the proposed airport in terms of having two runways, the bidders will come up with their own master plan for the project.”

She added, “They will also give details of how they will procure the finance for the project.”

According to Radha, “The bids closure will be by September or October, if we give an extension. By December or maximum January next year, we will have decided on the final bidder who will take up the airport project.”

The three qualified applicants for NMIA project are major global players , who have successfully developed and operate world class airports across the globe

These are GMR Airports, Mumbai International Airport Pvt. Ltd (MIAL) and MIA Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd. (VINCI Airports International S.A. & Tata Realty). Zurich Airport and Voluptas Developers (Hiranadani group) which was the fourth bidder shortlisted earlier was later disqualified during the screening process.

Senior public relations officer of Cidco Mohan Ninawe said, “The bidders will bid for the award of airport concession with the bid parameter being % share of gross revenue offered to Cidco.”
