Woman accuses husband of morphing photos
THANE: A 35-year-old woman from Rabodi has lodge a complaint against her husband for morphing her photographs and threatening to circulate them on the Internet. The accused is at large.
The woman, who got married for the second time a year ago, mentioned in her complaint that her husband had taken Rs4.29 lakh from her. The accused, identified as Ajay Chandrakant Mandlik, 34, works with a private firm at Thane.
In her complaint, the woman said she married Mandlik a year ago and they have been having trouble in their relationship ever since. She said her husband has been threatening her over the morphed photographs.
A police officer from Rabodi police station said, “The complainant said she married Mandlik a year ago after her first husband passed away. She said that her husband got hold of some of her morphed photographs. He threatened to circulate them on an app-based messenger to her family members if she did not give him money. The woman gave him Rs4.29 lakh in cash and jewellery.”
The officer added that Mandlik did not delete the photographs from the phone and also continued to demand more money from the complainant. “It was after he continued to demand more money and refused to delete the photographs, the woman finally lodged a complaint on Thursday.”
K Chavan, senior police inspector, Rabodi police station, said, “Mandlik has been charged under sections 406 (punishment for criminal breach of trust), 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) and relevant sections of IT Act.”
