NAVI MUMBAI: A 40-year-old man who went missing from Pydhonie who went missing around a week ago was found dead under Vashi creek bridge on Friday.

Some railway commuters, who were crossing the bridge around 12.30pm informed the police about it. The deceased has been identified as Heera Jagbahadur Singh. The police have sent the body to NMMC hospital in Vashi for post mortem. The reports are yet to come.

“We found one phone number in his pocket. That number was of a physician who knew the deceased and he told us about him. We informed his family,” said Suraj Padvi, police inspector from Vashi police station.

“Prima facie, it appears to be a suicide. However, it is still not clear when he committed suicide and what were the reasons behind it. We don’t have much idea about his profession and family background. The body was highly decomposed when we found it,” Padvi said.

The police said Pydhonie police will do the further investigations as they had registered the missing person’s case. For now, the Vashi police have registered an accidental death report.
