Two women held for stealing cash in Sanpada

NAVI MUMBAI: The Sanpada police on Wednesday arrested two women after they allegedly stole Rs9,500 from a 38-year-old man under the Sanpada flyover.

Two of their accomplices are on the run. According to the police, Battu Prasad was sleeping under the flyover. He was drunk and the women, who lived under the flyover, stole the money from his pocket. “The complainant learnt about the theft after he woke up. He told us that he suspected a few women loitering in the area,” said a police officer from Sanpada police station.

A police team detained two women based on suspicion. During interrogation, they confessed to the crime. They have been identified as Kavita Rathod, 40 and Mniashree Pawar, 40.

The police have booked the women under sections 380 and 34 of the IPC. "Two other women involved in the case are absconding and we are searching for them,” said another police officer.
