Belapur MLA bats for jobs for PAP
Belapur MLA Manda Mhatre met Cidco vice-chairman and managing director Bhushan Gagrani on Friday and discussed issues related to education, women empowerment and employment for project-affected people (PAP) in the nodal and village areas of Navi Mumbai.
“I brought forward the plot issue for PAP educational institutions in village areas. These included Vidya Utkarsh Mandal’s Vidya P Rasarak High School in Belapur, Karave’s Dnyandeep Seva Mandal High School, Pragati Vidyalay in Vashi village among others,” Mhatre said.
She also asked the City and Industrial Development Corporation (Cidco) to employ PAP engineers, who have been working for Cidco for five-six years, on permanent basis through a special resolution. “The MD has agreed to it,” she added.
Discussions were also held on changes to be made in the map for regularisation of need-based houses.
Mhatre reiterated her demand for giving transfer of development rights (TDR) to PAP as 3.75% of the land had been used for infrastructure.
In addition, Mhatre asked Cidco to construct Navi Mumbai Bal Bhavan to provide training to women and to promote the talent of children. Among her other demands were floor space index for Kukshet village, conservation of Kille Gaothan fort, water transport and marina project.
Meanwhile, Mhatre also met the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation commissioner, Tukaram Munde, and discussed the possibility of increasing the capacity of the Morbe dam.
“We also had a positive discussion on the beautification drive of Diwale and Vashi villages, rehabilitation of slum dwellers and photo IDs for them,” she added.
