Municipal commissioner Tukaram Mundhe has undertaken a major reshuffle of top officials of the NMMC.

While the decision announced on Friday attributes the transfers of the deputy municipal commissioners (DMC) and assistant municipal commissioners (AMC), to ensuring ‘ease of administrative work and increased efficiency in work’, sources said the reshuffle has booted several officials who were holding on to their posts for years.

DMC (headquarters) Jagannath Sinnarkar has been given the departments of property, vehicle and Swachch Maharashtra Abhiyan.

DMC Amrish Patnigiri who handled education and election has now been given the responsibility of zone II.

DMC Dadasaheb Chabukswar who handled property and Swachch Maharashtra Abhiyan will now be the DMC of education, sports and culture departments.

DMC (zone I) Subhash Ingle has now been made DMC (encroachment).

Mundhe said, “We are concentrating on ensuring that the common man gets his NMMC related work done at the local level, that is at the ward office itself. To make the administration peoplefriendly and to provide adequate powers to the ward officers, we have decided to upgrade the post of ward officer to that of assistant municipal commissioner.”

The officials will take charge of their new postings from June 13. These changes will help in better planning in administrative work, speed it up and will ultimately help provide even better services to the people of the city. TUKARAM MUNDHE, NMMC commissioner

He added, “Accordingly, all officers and personnel at ward offices, deputy engineers and junior engineers of public works, electric and sewage department and garden superintendent will work under the assistant municipal commissioner department.”

In keeping with the decision, Mundhe has transferred AMCs as ward officers.

AMC Prakash Waghmare has been made Digha ward officer, Ashok Madhvi is Kopar Khairane ward officer, Chandrakant Taide is Airoli ward officer and Diwaker Samel has been made Ghansoli ward officer.

The others nodes too will soon get AMC-level ward officers.

Mundhe said, “The officials will take charge of their new postings from June 13. These changes will help in better planning in administrative work, speed it up and will ultimately help provide even better services to the people of the city.”
