KALAMBOLI TO SOON GET UNINTERRUPTED POWER SUPPLY
The MSEDCL is constructing a new substation at Roadpali to supply electric power to Kalamboli and some areas of Kharghar. The work is expected to be completed in two months. The commissioning of the substation will ensure uninterrupted power supply to Kalamboli.
The population of Kalamboli has reached 2 lakh. There are around 22,000 power consumers in the node. Kalamboli is supplied electricity from the Taloja feeder and the substation there.
Due to the 6-km distance between the node and the substation, there is a lot of power loss and leakages.
Besides, old cables and rusted poles cause regular technical issues leading to regular power failure in the node.
Due to the presence of electric cable over a long stretch, finding the problem area also becomes quite a task leading to delays. Hence, despite regularly paying their electric bills, Kalamboli residents have to face constant power failures.
The residents had long been demanding resolution of the electric power supply issue in the node. They had also been demanding an independent arrangement for Kalamboli.
The MSEDCL had asked Cidco for a plot following which a plot was allotted two years back and MSEDCL began work on the sub-station. Underground cables from Taloja substation to Kalamboli have been laid. Hence, Kalamboli residents now have two alternatives.
