BIKER KILLED, 1 IN­JURED IN PALM BEACH ROAD AC­CI­DENT

A 26-year-old youth was killed and his friend crit­i­cally in­jured in a bike ac­ci­dent on Palm Beach Road on Wed­nes­day morn­ing. Po­lice sus­pect the de­ceased was speed­ing and his bike crashed into a fence. The duo was not wear­ing hel­mets. The ac­ci­dent oc­curred at around 9.30am in the Sea­woods sec­tion of the road be­tween Ak­shar tower and NRI Colony.

The de­ceased has been iden­ti­fied as Must­ufa Bush­eri, a res­i­dent of Kharghar. The in­jured is In­drapreet Arora, 25, a res­i­dent of Kopar Khairane. He has been ad­mit­ted to DY Patil hos­pi­tal with se­vere head and leg in­juries.

Ac­cord­ing to as­sis­tant po­lice in­spec­tor (traf­fic) Anil Pawar, “The duo works in a call cen­tre in Vashi. They were head­ing from Vashi to­wards CBD Belapur.”

He added, “Prima fa­cie, it seems that Bush­eri lost con­trol of his bike and crashed into the fence next to the road. He died. His friend, who was se­ri­ously in­jured, was rushed to the hos­pi­tal for treat­ment.”

Pawar said, “De­spite aware­ness on speed­ing and wear­ing hel­mets, sev­eral mo­torists con­tinue to ig­nore the warn­ings. Sadly one more pre­cious life has been lost.”

The po­lice said that fur­ther in­ves­ti­ga­tions are on.
