`15 crore for Di­wale vil­lage devel­op­ment: MLA

Vis­i­tors take pic­tures of ex­hibits at a photo ex­hi­bi­tion at Kala Bhawan in Ka­pur­bawdi, Thane, on World Pho­tog­ra­phy Day on Fri­day. The ex­hi­bi­tion, in which the works of 20 photo jour­nal­ists are dis­played, was in­au­gu­rated by Thane mayor San­jay More and TMC chief San­jeev Jaiswal. The ex­hi­bi­tion will be on till Au­gust 21.

Di­wale vil­lage will be the first smart vil­lage of Navi Mum­bai. An­nounc­ing this, MLA Manda Mha­tre has stated that she is com­mit­ted to the over­all devel­op­ment of Di­wale vil­lage. She said that the gov­ern­ment is all set to grant Rs15 crore for the vil­lage’s devel­op­ment.

Since be­com­ing the MLA of Be­la­pur con­stituency, Mha­tre has con­stantly fol­lowed up on gaothan is­sues, es­pe­cially of jetty re­pairs, with the state gov­ern­ment. She has got the re­pair work done at Ghan­soli, Vashi and Di­wale.

Ma­ha­rash­tra Mar­itime Board spent Rs3.74 crore on Di­wale jetty, which was in­au­gu­rated on Nar­ali Purn­ima on Wed­nes­day.

Speak­ing at the in­au­gu­ra­tion of, Mha­tre, said, “Ear­lier, some po­lit­i­cal lead­ers in Navi Mum­bai has cre­ated a lot of hur­dles for me to pre­vent me from tak­ing up de­vel­op­men­tal work. How­ever, now our gov­ern­ment is in power. I will now get state and cen­tral gov­ern­ment funds.”

Speak­ing on her plans for the vil­lage, Mha­tre said, “Sixty galas will be con­structed in Di­wale vil­lage for stor­ing fish at the jetty. A to­tal of Rs15 crore will be spent for vil­lage roads, fish and veg­etable mar­ket, park­ing fa­cil­ity, modern mar­riage hall and so on.”

Mha­tre said, “I will sub­mit a re­quest to the chief min­is­ter to ex­empt Koli­wada and gaothan ar­eas from CRZ reg­u­la­tions. I will then fol­low up on the is­sue.”
