The general body meeting of Raigad zilla parishad earlier this week witnessed uproarious scenes over the formation of the proposed Panvel municipal corporation (PMC).

The BJP pressed for the formation of PMC while some members of Peasants and Workers Party (PWP) vehemently opposed the process.

“The gram panchayats come under ZP jurisdiction. Hence the decision of the general body meeting of ZP too should be taken into account by the government. The administration should take up the issue with the government,” he said.

Tokre then ordered the administration to write to the government on the demand. the region,” he
