‘Will act against delay in certs’
NAVI MUMBAI: Following complaints from the residents, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation chief has warned of strict action against the officers responsible for delaying the process of birth, death and marriage registrations.
During a surprise visit to the Airoli divisional office last month, NMMC commissioner, Abhijit Bangar found that the birth and death certificates were pending for more than two months and action was taken against three officials.
The commissioner held a meeting on Wednesday with all the eight divisional offices via a video conference to ensure that such a situation does not happen in other offices.
“To allot the birth, death and marriage certificates within the stipulated time and effortlessly, necessary changes should be made in the working system of our civic facilitation centre. It is the responsibility of the staff working in the civic facility centre to ensure that there is no delay in providing the certificates and to avoid any inconvenience,” Bangar said.
