KALYAN: In order to decongest several major linking roads in Kalyan (W), the Kalyan traffic police have diverted the routes of private buses in the city.

There are several private buses plying in the city to pick and drop employees of private companies. This leads to major congestion on vital roads connecting neighbouring cities from Kalyan.

The traffic police have imposed a ‘no entry’ for these private buses on the busy Agra Road in Kalyan (W) from 6pm to 9pm.

“Agra Road is one of the busiest linking roads in Kalyan west and it is mostly crowded during evenings due to the commercial establishments, continuous flow of vehicles and auto rickshaws. Closing it for private buses has helped ease congestion between the Durgadi Chowk and Bail Bazaar,” said Sukhdev Patil, senior police inspector, Kalyan.

The diverted route for such buses coming from Bhiwandi to Kalyan is the Govindwadi bypass–Patripool–APMC market and those private buses arriving from Padgha to Kalyan will take the Adharwadi Chowk–Wadeghar–Durgadi– Govindwadi–Patripool–APMC market.

Those buses going to Vitthalwadi, Ulhasnagar, Ambernath and Badlapur will take either the Birla College-Shahad Bridge-Ulhasnagar or the Patripool-Chakki Naka-Shreeram Chowk route.

“In the past few days, the congestion on the Agra road has reduced to some extent and it is visible during the peak hours. The traffic police should also bring some regulations during the morning peak hour,” said Sandeep Joshi, 38, a commuter.
