Explosion at chemical factory in Bhiwandi injures three

Fire brigade personnel control situation; police will take statements of the injured and the company owner before registerin­g a case

BHIWANDI: Almost three weeks after a blast in a chemical factory at Dombivli, a similar explosion in a Bhiwandi factory injured three workers on Friday.

The blast took place at Khemisati Pro House is at Shelar village in Bhiwandi rural. The factory makes raw materials for chemicals.

There was no fire, said the police.

The police from Bhiwandi rural along with fire brigade rush to the spot and rescued the other workers.

The injured have been identified as Natayan Chinnaya Bare, 55, Munnawar Shaikh, 23, and Vinay Ramvilas Singh, 42.

All three are residents of Bhiwandi rural area and they work as labourers.

A police source said that more than a dozen workers work in the factory but they managed to run out of the factory after the blast.

“The three injured are critical and are being treated at civil hospital in Bhiwandi. We are yet to take the factory’s owner statement. There was no fire after the blast but the loud noise could be heard kilometres away. We have not yet registered a case. We have taken note of the blast. We will take statements of the injured and accordingl­y register a case,” said the police.

On May 26, an explosion in a chemical company at Dombivli left 12 dead.

The blast was so loud that it was heard up to 3 kilometres, shattering windowpane­s of houses nearby. A case was lodged against the owner of the Probace Enterprise Private Limited Company.
