Music band to entertain you with patriotic songs at Masunda lake
Every 15 days, police, a TMC band troupe or Bhartiya Sena will perform at lake
THANE: P i c n i c ke r s a t t h e Masunda lake, popularly known as Talaopali, will now be entertained by the drum beats of Thane’s bands.
The Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) inaugurated a Shiv Bhakti band stand near the lake on Wednesday evening, where every 15 days, the police, a TMC band troupe or the Bhartiya Sena will play patriotic songs from 6.30pm to 7.30pm.
“The idea is the brainchild of the additional municipal commissioner, Sunil Chavan. The band will be operated in coordination with the police department,” said Sandeep Malvi, public relation officer, TMC.
The corporation will publish a timetable of the performances, which are free.
Thane-based musicians will also be invited to perform from 5pm to 7pm with the TMC’s permission. They will not be required to pay for the stand.
“The band stand is located beside the Shivaji statue, where there is enough space for people to stand and enjoy the show. There won’t be any traffic con- gestion in the area,” said Malvi.
Residents have welcomed this initiative. “I often come for an evening stroll along this lake with a few senior citizens. On Wednesday, we were delighted to hear patriotic songs being played here,” said Shyam Joshi, 62, a resident of Naupada and a frequent visitor to the lake.
