On Thursday, on the day of Raksha Bandhan, Chavan told his three sisters that he will be back by evening to be together for the festival.

He had hardly crossed 2 kilometres, when a truck hit Chavan’s bike from behind at Manpada circle. Chavan lost control and fell. The truck ran over Chavan.

His neighbour Dipak Gaund, 43, passed by the accident site and saw a huge crowd. “I returned home and saw that my neighbour’s bike was not there. I alerted the other neighbours and Chavan’s family.”
