David Guetta’s city con­cert can­celled af­ter po­lice say no

MUM­BAI: The Mum­bai po­lice have re­fused per­mis­sion for the Grammy award-win­ning DJ David Guetta’s con­cert, w h i ch wa s s c h e d u l e d t o take place on Fri­day at the Ban­dra-Kurla Com­plex (BKC), with of­fi­cers say­ing that the or­gan­is­ers did not com­plete the “manda­tory re­quire­ments and le­gal for­mal­i­ties”.

“We have re­jected per­mis­sion to or­gan­is­ers of Sun­burn Arena event for not com­plet­ing the manda­tory re­quire­ments and le­gal for­mal­i­ties,” said Mum­bai po­lice spokesper­son and DCP Ashok Dudhe. “Or­gan­is­ers of the Sun­burn event came to us for per­mis­sion at the last mo­ment. They did not in­form or dis­cuss plans about safety and se­cu­rity of the peo­ple who were go­ing to at­tend the event. They did not show us maps of the event venue and traf­fic man­age­ment plans.”

The three-day fes­ti­val was ini­tially sup­posed to take place at the Ma­ha­lak­shmi race­course, but the Bri­han­mum­bai Mu­nic­i­pal Cor­po­ra­tion (BMC) re­fused per­mis­sion on Thurs­day, say­ing the or­gan­is­ers did not have a nod to use the race­course.

O n T h u r s d ay, G u e t t a ’s Ban­ga­lore con­cert, which was sup­posed to kick­start his fourcity tour to Mum­bai, Hy­der­abad and New Delhi, was also can­celled. While the or­gan­is­ers said the con­cert was can­celled ow­ing to the law and or­der is­sue in the wake of the mo­lesta­tion in­ci­dent on New Year’s Eve, au­thor­i­ties said per­mis­sion was de­nied ow­ing to lo­cal polls and the or­gan­is­ers not ap­ply­ing for per­mis­sion on time.
