19-year-old, minor boyfriend arrested for murdering her ‘adoptive father’

MUMBAI: Five days after a bag stuffed with body parts washed upnearMahi­mDargah,Mumbai Police’s crime branch identified the victim and uncovered his murder. The victim — Bennett Rebello, a 59-year-old guitarist who lived in Vakola— was murdered by a 19-year-old woman, who claimed to be his adopted daughter, and her 16-year-old boyfriend.

During questionin­g, the woman told police that Bennett disapprove­d of her relationsh­ip with the boy, and also had sexually abused her. The police are investigat­ing these allegation­s.

Inside the travel bag that was found on Monday were body partsthati­ncludedale­fthandtill the shoulder and a right leg. The limbs were wrapped in a sweater, which had a tag that the police narrowed down to a tailor’s shop in Kurla and it helped them crack the case.
