DOMBIVLI: Four persons including a Covid patient were injured after a lift of a private Covid hospital located at Daudi Naka, Dombivli-Kalyan-Shil Road collapsed late on Friday night.

Apart from the Covid patient, his parents, Dilip, 56, and Asha Mahajan, 43, and a hospital employee, Asha Narkar, were injured.

The Mahajans were taking their son for admission while Narkar accompanied them. They were headed for the first floor when the lift collapsed all of a sudden. The son suffered minor injuries while the other three who suffered major injuries on their legs were taken to another private hospital in Dombivli.

There was no response from the hospital administration despite repeated attempts.

Dr Satish Patil from the hospital said, “Narkar was taking the Covid patient along with his parents to the second floor after the primary check-up. Suddenly, the lift stopped functioning and the staff tried to move the door. In seconds, the lift collapsed. It was a technical error which we will fix. Meanwhile, we also made arrangements to send the parents who were injured to another hospital for treatment. We are in touch with them and they are stable. The son is admitted in our hospital and he is stable too. We have also contacted the police and provided all the details and will co-operate.”
