UNADKAT, POORAN DONATE PART OF IPL PAY TO COVID FIGHT

NEW DELHI: Rajasthan Royals fast bowler Jaydev Unadkat will donate 10 per cent of his IPL salary to help Covid-19 patients who need essential medical resources as India battles the health crisis.

The 29-year-old from Gujarat, who was retained by Rajasthan this year after being bought for Rs3 crore in the 2020 IPL auction, made the announceme­nt on his social media account. “I am contributi­ng 10% of my IPL salary towards providing essential medical resources for those in need. My family will make sure it reaches the right places. Jai Hind!” Unadkat tweeted.

Punjab Kings’ West Indian batsman Nicholas Pooran also decided to donate a part of his IPL salary to help the country in its fight against the pandemic.

Ton-up Fawad puts Pakistan in command

HARARE: Fawad Alam notched his fourth Test hundred as Pakistan built an imposing first innings lead over Zimbabwe on the second day of the first Test in Harare on Friday.

Alam’s unbeaten 108, along with Imran Butt’s 91 earlier in the day, guided Pakistan to 374 for six at the close, giving them a lead of 198 over Zimbabwe’s first innings total of 176.

Taskin shines with ball but SL continue run fest

PALLEKELE: Bangladesh paceman Taskin Ahmed took three wickets for 119 on the second day of the second Test against Sri Lanka on Friday but the hosts still piled up 469 runs for six at stumps.

The 26-year-old had an impressive morning spell where he removed Lahiru Thirimanne for 140 and Angelo Mathews (five) in quick succession.
