HOUSING SOCIETIES YET TO START VAX DRIVE UNDER PCVC

- Ankita G Menon

THANE: More than a week after Thane Municipal Corporation announced policies for Private Covid Vaccination Centre (PCVC), not a single housing society has started the vaccination process.

Although the TMC has sanctioned around 85 private hospitals to conduct vaccination for housing societies and workplaces, housing societies in the city are struggling to find a centre to tie up to initiate such a drive.

“With the shortage of vaccines, we need good contacts to be able to make arrangements for vaccine doses in the city. We have made all possible arrangements within the housing society for the drive but have yet to find centres with enough vaccine doses. We are also trying to find a centre that provides vaccine that is affordable,” said K Kumar, president, Progressive Thane Residents Association.

Meanwhile, the residents of Hiranandani Meadows Residents Welfare Association, are in the process of finalising a hospital and source vaccines for the PCVC.

Two private establishments have managed to vaccinate around 3,000 beneficiaries after tying up with Siddhivinayak Hospital in Thane last week.

“As per the guidelines we have shared, it is the prerogative of private hospitals and individual establishments who wish to conduct vaccination to make provision for vaccines and update details about the vaccination on Cowin portal,” said a senior civic officer of TMC.
