Oyo CEO’s father falls to death from 20th floor Gurugram flat

GURUGRAM: Ramesh Agarwal, 65, father of Oyo Rooms founder Ritesh Agarwal, died in a fall from the 20th floor balcony of his apartment in DLF The Crest condominiu­m in Gurugram on Friday afternoon, police said, adding that it appeared to be a case of death by suicide.

Agarwal lived in the apartment with his wife.

Virender Vij, deputy commission­er of police (east), said the incident took place at about 1pm. We received informatio­n from DLF security that a person had fallen from the 20th floor in The Crest society, and he was taken to a private hospital for treatment. A team along with station house officer of Sector 53 police station visited the spot, and the deceased was identified . He was declared brought dead on arrival by the doctors,” Vij said.

“We have recorded the statement of deceased’s son Aashish Agarwal. Preliminar­y probe revealed that he died by suicide as the railing of the apartment is 3.5 feet high, and the fall could not have been accidental. NEW DELHI: Union health minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Friday held a meeting to review rising H3N2 influenza cases across India, directing states to remain alert and monitor the situation amid an outbreak that is leaving people with a painful rasping cough that lasts for days, sometimes weeks.

The health ministry, in a statement, said that there was no cause for concern as the number of deaths being reported is not high, and also that cases are likely to start falling by the end of this month.
