MUMBAI: Indrani Mukherjea’s former husband Sanjeev Khanna on Monday questioned the prosecution’s theory over his involvement in the Sheena Bora murder case. Khanna, who has been booked in the case, said that he was not at the spot when Sheena was killed.

According to the prosecution, the three accused – Indrani, Shyamvar Rai and Khanna — had kidnapped Sheena from Bandra, strangulated her in the car on April 24, 2012, and dumped her body in a suitcase. The next day, they dumped the suitcase at the place it was recovered.

The defense argued that on April 24, 2012, when Khanna came to Mumbai he reached the hotel at 6.05 pm. While there were calls between Indrani and Khanna around 6.30pm, his loca tion was traced far from that of Indrani. The defense also pointed out that Indrani was with Sheena at Amarsons in Bandra, while Khanna was far away and could not have reached there.

The defense also said that the statement of the watch man of the Marlow building is contradictory as he alleged that at around 9.30 pm, he saw Khanna with Indrani and her driver Rai near the gate when they returned after allegedly murdering Sheena. However the defense pointed out that at 9.30 pm, Khanna was at the hotel

“A person cannot be at two plac es at the same time,” Khanna’s lawyer Hrishikesh Mundarg pointed out while showing the statement to the court.
