The javelin thrower’s massive second throw of 86.48m, shattered the old mark of 84.69m set by European champion Zigsimunds Sirmais of

Latvia. After opening with 79.66m, which was eclipsed by South Africa’s Johan Grobler (80.59m), Chopra eliminated the competitio­n with his second try. This is a great show in a world event. The government must also rule out chances of foul play as claimed by the wrestler. India’s Rio Olympics preparatio­ns have plunged into a crisis with Narsingh Yadav testing positive in the doping test. After winning a protracted battle with double Olympic medallist, Sushil Kumar, who had unsuccessf­ully challenged his exclusion from the squad in court, Narsingh is battling another crisis that has become an embarrassm­ent not only for the wrestler but also for the country. The government needs to take immediate action to redress the issue. good example for other housing societies to emulate (Andheri society goes solar, saves 50K a month on energy bills, July 25). By installing solar panels on their building, they have reduced their mounting electricit­y bills. Some societies have adopted other ways to go green such as composting their garbage, recycling and reusing waste.
