WADALA GIRL’S BODY FOUND AT CREEK IN NHAVA-SHEVA

NAVI MUMBAI: The body of a fiveyear-old girl from Wadala who had gone missing with her father four days ago was found near a creek in Nhava-sheva on Sunday. Her father is still missing, the police said.

The father, Irshad Khan, 35, a medical representa­tive by profession, texted his wife on Thursday that he had killed his daughter and was going to commit suicide. Around 9.30 pm that day, he also sent a suicide note to his around 300 contacts on Whatsapp sayinghis wife had been harassing him and had extra marital affairs.

The family went to the police station and registered a missing diary. “Khan’s mobile phone was last traced near Vashi creekbridg­e. A police team then left for Vashi and found his bike on the old bridge around 11.30pm on Thursday. But the father-daughter duo could not be traced,” said Azam Khan, Irshad’s elder brother.

Around 3.30pm on Sunday, some villagers spotted the girl’s body on the rocks between JNPT and Nhava village and informed the local police. Cops took her photograph­s and sent it to the control room and all the police stations. The girl’s mother and uncle reached Nhava Sheva on Monday and identified the body from the clothes.

“The girl was wearing a sleeveless top and jeans but we have not recovered anything else that proves her identity,” said Bapurao Gawade, assistant police inspector at Nhava Sheva police station.
