Two men assault Ola driver, throw his car key into sea
MUMBAI: A complaint was filed by an Ola cab driver at the Worli police station against a duo for assaulting him and throwing his car key into the sea near the Bandra-worli sea link on Monday.
According to police officials, complainant Ram Tiwari was ferrying a passenger from Nariman Point to Bandra-kurla Complex when the incident took place.
A Ghatkopar resident, Tiwari has been working as a driver for the last 10 years and was hired by a private employer before he started working for Ola.
Speaking to HT, Tiwari said, “I was on my way to BKC via Bandra-worli sea link, when a white colour vehicle bumped into my car from behind. I lost control of my vehicle and it grazed the mirror of a Mercedes parked before the sea link. Its owners were outside and enjoyoccurred.” Tiwari claimed the moment he stopped his vehicle to check the damage it had sustained, the ed him and threw his car keys into the sea.
“Both the accused had worn some kind of headgear. I couldn’t note their vehicle number, but all I can remember is MH43 5858. I’m unable to recollect the two alphabets. Despite assaulting me, their anger didn’t quell. They then snatched the car key and threw it into the sea,” he said.
Cops said the incident resulted in a massive traffic jam near the sea link and they were informed about it by the Ola driver himself before they started receiving calls from the locals and other motorists.
However, the accused fled the spot before the police arrived. With no keys to start the car, Tiwari sought police help to move the vehicle.
