Don’t worry, god is present everywhere and always for you

- CP Rajasekharan

“Each and everything, whatever we have in this universe, is the abode of god, let us have whatever he provides; don’t need not be greedy and covet others’ wealth.’’ This is the simple meaning of the first verse of the Isha Upanishad. According to the mantra, god exists everywhere, in all living and non-living things. The universe comprises five elements: Earth, water, light, air and the sky. Each living body — of human beings, animals and even bacteria — is made of these elements and god dwells in all these creatures.

We travel in search of god. Some go to the Himalayas, some to Mecca and some to Jerusalem. Many visit far-off temples, mosques and churches to experience the almighty, forgetting His presence within us.

If we have a craving for wealth, we are not believers. We have to contemplate the fact that the “giver of all” is none but god and so we have to cultivate the quality of detachment.

Mahatma Gandhi had said, “It is the idea of complete surrender, that he supplies all what I need; nothing belongs to me; as god pervades everywhere; nothing belongs to you, even your own body; since his presence pervades every fibre of my being and of all of you, it derives the doctrine of equality of all creatures on earth; and so I cannot hold anything as mine, even my life to be continued as a sacrificial service to fellow beings.”

If we understand this, we will realise that we are all creatures of the same creator. Let us start forswearing our rights and allow others to enjoy, and be happy and prosperous.
