Salman Khan’s bodyguard detained for assaulting trio
MUMBAI: Actor Salman Khan’s bodyguard Gurmeet Singh, better known as Shera, was detained on Wednesday for allegedly assaulting a 25-yearold and his two friends in Andheri (West).
Shera’s driver and two bodyguards, too, have been held and are being questioned. The police did not disclose the motive behind the attack.
The police said, the incident took place around 2am near Indian oil Nagar link road. Athar Gulam Ansari and his friends, identified as Javed and Valentine alias Valy, were moving in an Audi. Ansari was speaking on the phone to a man identified as ‘Ajay bhai’, police said. Seeing Shera, Ansari allegedly told Ajay Bhai about it.
“Ajay bhai asked Ansari to give the phone to Shera. Ansari then got off the vehicle and gave the phone to Shera. Ajay bhai abused him and Shera abused him back. Shera confronted Ansari and abused him for handing over the phone. This led to a heated argument and a fight,” said a police officer, on condition of anonymity, as he is not autho rised to speak to the media.
“Ansari said Shera pulled out a pistol and hit him with the butt of the weapon on his shoulder repeatedly. Shera’s bodyguard pulled out another hard object and hit Ansari. Shera’s aides too, started beating up Javed and Valentine,” said the officer.
Ansari, Javed and Valentine rushed to Cooper hospital for a medical test and reached DN Nagar police station at 5.20am Ansari has fractured his collar bone, said police.
An FIR has been registered against Shera and his three aides under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Shera lives at Seven Bunga lows on JP road, while Ansari is a resident of Vile Parle (West) and works as a mobile repairer.
