Police trace Malad murder accused to Tamil Nadu

MUMBAI The Malad police have arrested a man in connection with the murder of Jayram Kumar Nadar, who was killed in June. The accused, Maria Ra Nadar, is also wanted in a 2007 attempt to murder case.

He is the fifth such accused in connection with the murder Jayram used to run a nicke plating workshop.

He had three cases registered against him, including a murder case.

Maria’s name cropped up during investigat­ions, when the police were questionin­g the four other accused in the case.

A police team started looking for him in Valnai, but were unsuccessf­ul. Informants helped the investigat­ing team trace him to Tamil Nadu, where a team was dispatched to catch him.

The probe revealed that Jay ram, Maria and the other four accused would often get into fights. The group fought during the festive season and Jayram allegedly assaulted them. The group decided to seek revenge and subsequent­ly planned to murder him, said officials.

Jayram was standing near a motorbike at his Valnai resi dence when the assailants tar geted him.

The group attacked him with knives, choppers and smal blades. Jayram succumbed to heavy bleeding.

The police said three more people are currently wanted in connection with the case.
