Housewife jumps to death from Sobo flat

A 44-year-old woman killed herself by jumping off a terrace flat of residentia­l building near Bombay hospital on Sunday. The incident took place around noon. The police have not been able to ascertain the reason behind the suicide.

According to the Azad Maidan police, the incident was reported around 12.30 pm. The deceased, Rupa Shah, was a housewife and a graduate by qualificat­ion. She jumped from the fifth floor terrace of Ramlal Mansion, where she lived with her husband and his extended family.

Rupa’s husband Vikas Shah is a chartered accountant and he owns a terrace flat in the building. His brother owns another flat in the same building. Both brothers were not at home when the incident occurred. The woman jumped from the flat of her brother-in-law as her own terrace had grills. She fell where the watchman was.

No suicide note was found nor have the police got any evidence against anyone.

She was pronounced dead at GT hospital.

A 48-year-old woman allegedly killed her husband after they got into a fight in the wee hours of Friday in Dharav area of Central Mumbai.

According to the Dharav police, the incident took place in room no 48, Azadnagar, where deceased Shafiq Rafiq Khan, 56 lived with his wife Halimunisa The couple has three daughters and two sons. Two of the daugh ters are married.

That night, they fought over some monetary issue. Shafiq hit her at the back of her head and she retaliated by hitting him on the head with a stone.

Police said that Shafiq had bled to death. Halimunisa has been admitted to Sion hospita but is out of danger. She will be arrested after she is discharged
