Anand and Kirrtane shocked in semis

seed Kunal Anand of Delhi and second seed Nitin Kirrtane of Maharashtr­a were ousted in the semifinals on a stunning day of upsets in the MSLTA-IOC Khar Gymkhana All India Ranking Men’s Tennis Tournament here on Friday.

Unseeded Abdullah Shaikh of Telangana stunned Anand 6-2, 6-3 in a 90-minute encounter, while sixth seed Jatin Dahiya of Delhi ended Kirrtane’s winning streak with a 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 win in a twohour battle.

Anand made amends when he teamed up with Aaditya Tewari to reach the doubles final and will meet Dhruv Sunish and Paramveer Singh.

St Sebastian FC struck a late equaliser to share honours with Juhu Sparks in an evenly contested Super Division match of the MDFA League.

Lebron James says the reigning NBA champion Cleve land Cavaliers are “in a bad spot” after losing their third con secutive game, falling 99-93 Thursday at Chicago.

The Bulls completed a 4-0 reg ular-season sweep of Cleveland boosting their chances of reach ing the playoffs and dropping the Cavaliers (47-27) behind Boston (48-27) at the top of the Eastern Conference.

“We’re in a bad spot right now,” James said. “Not disap pointed with the effort. Just in a bad spot. Got to try to figure it out... we’ve got some work to do and we don’t have a lot of time.”

The Bulls (36-39) moved within one game of Miami and Indiana for the last two playoff spots in the Eastern Conference with seven games remaining
