GST WILL TRANSFORM THE COUNTRY

The path is clear for the implementa­tion of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) with the Rajya Sabha passing the bills (Rajya Sabha clears decks for the GST rollout from July 1, April 7). With the GST coming into effect, both the Centre and the state will have the power to levy tax. What is bright is that both the ruling party and the opposition, the BJP and the Congress, joined hands in clearing the bottleneck­s and allowed the bill to pass without any hiccups. The BJP and the Congress will have to co-operate similarly to ensure that other reforms are also taken up in the future for the wellbeing of the country.
