Congress’ attack on Savarkar is uncalled for, says Amit Shah
Bharatiya Janata Party president Amit Shah on Friday hit out at the Congress for questioning Veer Savarkar’s contribution to the freedom struggle.
“Though every individual has their own way of thinking, questioning Savarkar’s contribution to the freedom struggle is uncalled for. The Congress should be ashamed of it,” Shah said while addressing the 29th edition of the three-day Akhil Bhartiya Savarkar Sahitya Sammelan, which is being held for the first time in Thane.
Intensifying his attack, Shah, who was the chief guest at the event, said, “When the Congress government was in power at the centre, it had ordered to uninstall the Amar Jyoti at the Andaman Nicobar islands, but the BJP reinstalled it.”
Shah also talked about Savarkar’s life, vision and his literary works.
“Savarkar is appreciated and followed worldwide and such a literary fest should not be limited to Maharashtra The orga as his followers are across India,” said Shah.
Many eminent writers and thinkers attended the literary festival.
Shah advised youth to read books and literature written by Savarkar. He stressed on the need to make Savarkar’s biography available in different languages for diverse readership.
Vidyadhar Thanekar, president of the festival said “Savarkar has been pride of Maharashtra ”Hedemandedthatsav Bharat Ratna posthumously.
“We have received more than a lakh signatures supporting the demand. Shah should definitely consider this and convey the messagetotheprimeminister ”
