Proud to be on list with LK Advani, says former Thane mayor charged in Babri case

Thane’s former mayor and two-term Rajya Sabha member, Satish Pradhan, against whom the Supreme Court restored charges of criminal conspiracy in the Babri Masjid demolition case,said that he is ready to accept whatever he did for Ram Janmabhoom­i 27 years ago.

Pradhan, 75, said that he was proud that his name was included in a list including LK Advani, MM Joshi, Sadhavi Ritambara, Uma Bharti and Vinay Khatiar, who will also be tried in the case afresh.

On Saturday, senior BJP leader Omprakash Sharma, who was also a participan­t of the movement met Pradhan at his house.

Pradhan and Sharma are said to be the only two leaders from Thane who participat­ed in the movement then when the agitation was at its height.

From Thane, Pradhan was allegedly at the forefront of the Ram Janmabhoom­i movement in 1992, and was involved in planning the demolition of the Babri Masjid.

According to sources, Pradhan along with a few others had a secret meeting at North Avenue in Delhi on November 1992 to chalk out a strategy regarding Ayodha.
