Souvenir CC to face Parsee Gym in final

Souvenir CC went through to the final of the Salarjung Community Shield as they beat Payyade SC by 9 runs, here on Sunday. They’ll face Parsee Gymkhana in the final, who beat Islam Gymkhana by 37 runs in the other semifinal.

Electing to bat first after winning the toss, Souvenir CC put up 145 for the loss of seven wickets in their 20 overs. Aman Khan led from the front with a brilliant 45-ball 58 and was well assisted by Ronak Shinde who scored 27 off as many balls.

It wasn’t a huge total but Azeem Ansari (2/22), Asif Shaikh (2/29) and Sarfaraz (2/21) took wickets as regular intervals as Payyade SC collapsed to 136 runs in 19.3 overs.

Aakarshit Gomel’s unbeaten 73 had helped Parsee put up 167 for the loss of five wickets before Khizar Dafedar (3/11) and Abhimanyu (2/8) wrecked through the Islam Gymkhana batting line-up.

CURRY STARS IN WARRIORS’ VICTORY

Curry scored 14 of his 34 points in the fourth quarter as Golden State Warriors stormed back from a 16-point third-quarter deficit to beat Portland Trail Blazers 119-113.

Klay Thompson got 24 points on Saturday for the Warriors, who seized a commanding 3-0 lead in the best-of-seven firstround Western Conference playoff series. CJ Mccollum scored 32 points and Damian Lillard added 31 for the Blazers, who will try to stay alive with a win in game four on Monday.
