2 masked men fire at wine shop in Ulhasnagar, no casualties

Two masked men opened fired at a wine shop in Ulhasnagar on Thursday. They came on a bike and were also wearing helmets.

No one was injured in the incident. After firing at alcohol bottles, the shooters handed over an envelope to the owner, which was allegedly signed by Suresh Pujari , a gangster.

On Thursday afternoon, two men rode to Mukesh Wine Shop.

“The man riding pillion went up to the salesman at the counter and handed him an envelope. When the man went to the owner with it, the accused fired a round at the bottles and fled,” said S Sable, senior police inspector from crime branch unit 4.

The envelope later revealed a paper with the Suresh Pujari’s name and signature on it.

The police are finding it difficult to trace the accused because the CCTV cameras in the area are not functional.

Sable added, “We have come to know that the accused came.on a white bike and they rode towards Ulhasnagar station. We will check the other CCTV cameras on that lane to trace the accused. The name on the paper is under investigat­ion”

Apart from the Thane crime branch, the anti- extortion cell and Hill Line police are probing the case.

It is suspected that the accused fired for extortion.

N Kadam, senior police inspec tor from Thane Anti Extortion Cell, said,” We are keeping an eye on those who were earlier arrested in the Pujari case. We will also investigat­e the cal details of the shop owner for clues. No one has been detained and a case has been registered with the Hill Line police station.”
