GOVT MUST FRAME STRICTER LAWS FOR ANIMAL SAFETY

-

With no strict laws on animal safety, pets are subjected to cruelty as they can’t defend themselves (Tighten the leash, end cruelty, April 28). Many people keep turtles at their places in small ponds and children tease them by poking them with fingers. Some keep snakes as pets or rare sparrows in their houses and no wonder that some of them die due to dehydration and heat. People lack sensitivity when it comes to keeping pets at home. Some of the pets are even sexually abused by their owners. The government must make some com prehensive dos and don’ts for pet owners. It should clearly lay down rules and also mention which animals can or can’t be kept as pets.
