Catch that ‘dropped’ Delhi out of match

- HT Correspondent

The story of Steve Waugh telling Herschelle Gibbs what he did during the 1999 World Cup may not have been repeated at Eden on Friday but when Delhi Daredevils let go off Robin Uthappa, they may well have dropped their chance of staying beyond the league phase. Sanju Samson, who made 60 off 38, and Amit Mishra came to get Uthappa’s skier but let the ball drop between them. It was a comedy of errors only Delhi Daredev ils wouldn’t be expected to see its funny side. Speaking after the match, Samson said: “We know catches win matches. It’s a busy crowd out here. It’s not easy to communicate while the ball goes up. It happens in matches but we need to move on as we have a match day after.”

Skipper Zaheer Khan exhorted his boys to put it behind them bu the way Daredevils let things drift showed the impact that miss had on the team. As did Samson’s inability to change gears during the middle overs. “I’m still learn ing. I’m 22 year old,” he said.
