- HT correspondent

The Maharashtra Con gress on Monday criticised the Devendra Fadnavis govern ment, saying its policies were anti-labour.

State Congress chief Ashok Chavan, after paying tribute to martrys on Maharashtra Day said that by tweaking existing labour laws to benefit industries and industrialists, the govern ment was destroying the future of labourers and workers.

He said the Bjp-led state gov ernment’s policies were not in the interest of the common man and accused it of favouring dis trict cooperative banks that had BJP members on board.

Fadnavis had recently pitched the idea of bringing district banks with poor a financial track record under the control of the Maharashtra State Cooperative Bank.

Chavan also criticised the state, saying it had diluted the provisions of the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act 2016 to safeguard the inter ests of developers.

On the CM’S harsh criticism of the opposition Congress and NCP’S Sangharsh Yatra cam paign to demand farm loan waiver, Chavan said, “He [Fad navis]can abuse us, but he should take decisions for the wel fare of farmers and make them debt-free.”

Chavan also criticised the failed policies to procure the pigeon pea, which saw record production this year.

He said the government had no proper plan for the procure ment and that this it had badly affected the farmers.
