Maradona set to play football with Ganguly on visit to Kolkata
Argentina football icon Diego Maradona on Wednesday said he will visit Kolkata in the third week of September. The hero of the South American nation’s 1986 World Cup win will take part in a series of programmes in the city on September 19 and 20.

TOTTI SET TO RETIRE
AS Roma’s long-serving captain Francesco Totti will quit football at the end of the season, the capital club’s sporting director Monchi announced on Wednesday. The 40-year-old iconic playmaker, who joined Roma’s academy in 1989 and has remained with the capital outfit, is out of contract in the summer.
Monchi, who was appointed by Roma last week, clarified that Totti will end his 28-year playing career. Known for his high technical pedigree, vision and shooting skills, Totti is known as one of the best of his era.
STROOTMAN BANNED
Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman received a two-match ban for diving on Tuesday after winning a controversial penalty in Sunday’s 3-1 Rome derby defeat by Lazio.
The Dutch internationa earned his side a penalty late in the first half, but replays showed there was no contact between Strootman and Lazio’s Brazilian defender Wallace.
The Italian league’s disciplin ary body said Strootman was being punished for “serious unsporting behaviour”, with the 27-year-old set to miss upcoming games against AC Milan and Juventus. Roma’s loss to Lazio left them nine points behind leaders Juve with just four matches remaining.
