Fake cops ‘raid’ bizman’s home in Kurla, rob ₹1.86L

A businessman was robbed of Rs 1.86 lakh on Wednesday afternoon by four unidentified people who posed as policemen.

Sahul Hamid approached the Vinobha Bhave Nagar police station after he realised something was amiss and a case was registered.

The incident occurred at Hamid’s flat in Farzana Apartments near Shalimar hotel in Kurla (west). “Hamid, who is in the business of selling utensils, was with six workers in his flat, which is in a ground-plus-one structure. It is also used as an office,” said a police officer.

The incident occurred around 3.45 pm after the accused barged into the house under the pretext of inspecting it.

“They then assaulted the workers and broke open a cupboard using a hammer. The accused stole Rs1.80 lakh and also threatened the workers into giving money. They collected Rs6,000 from them and fled the spot by 4.50 pm,” the officer added.

The police suspect an insider’s involvement in the robbery.
