Hotelier who killed friend held in Thane

While being led to the police van [in Aurangabad], More pushed aside the constables guarding him and fled court premises.

A 29-year-old hotelier from Aurangabad, on the run since January 2017, was arrested by the Thane crime branch (Unit 1) on Friday morning. Santosh Mahadev More,29, had allegedly fired three rounds at his friend over suspicion that he was having an affair with his wife. The incident had occurred in January 2016.

He will soon be handover to the Aurangabad police.

According to Thane crime branch officers, More and his friends were at a party on Janu the party progressed, More and the victim had an argument following which he fired three rounds at Anil Hawalsingh Sharma,32, a transporte­r.

Sharma was rushed to hospital, but was declared dead on arrival. A murder case under section 302 of the Indian penal Code was registered against More at the Gangapur police station. Following an investigat­ion, all those present at the party were taken into custody.

During questionin­g, others revealed that they fled the spot the moment More fired at Sharma. Though all the suspects were produced in court only custody.

A police officer said, “After serving 11 months in jail, More was once again produced in a court at Vaijapur in Aurangabad on January 24, where his police custody was extended While pushed aside the constables guarding him and fled the court premises.”

He added, “Following his escape, two cases were registered at Vaijapur police station — one against More and one against the two constables guarding him at the time of his escape. The constables were later granted bail.”

Cops added that More came to Mumbai and contacted his friend in Malwani. He then destroyed his old SIM card and purchased a new one using fake identity proof. He then started working as a driver for an app-based cab aggregator He was arrested

Bombay high court on Friday asked the state government whether it alloted more than 600 acres of land in Nagpur to Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali Ayurveda at a throwaway price. If so, then on what grounds the concession was given.

A division bench of Chief Justice Manjula Chellur and Justice GS Kulkarni was hearing a petition filed by Congress Mumbai major irregulari­ties in the allotment of more than 600 acres of land in the Multi-modal Internatio­nal Hub Airport at Nagpur (MIHAN), Nagpur.

The bench gave state six weeks to submit an affidavit in this case.
