MUMBAI: Fewer students have scored high marks in the physicschemistry-mathematics (PCM) section of Maharashtra’s common entrance test (MH-CET), which holds the key to getting admission in undergraduate engineering, pharmacy and a few agriculture courses in the state, a summary of the results released on Saturday has revealed.

The students will be able to check their MH-CET results online on Sunday.

According to the state CET cell, 22,844 students who opted for PCM combination have scored 100 or above out of 200. Last year, 23,078 students had scored 100 or above.

However, the number of students scoring 100 or above in the physics-chemistry-biology (PCB) section, which is important to gain admission to pharmacy and a few agriculture courses, has increased from 12,712 to 16,548.

At 188, Abhijit Kadam has scored the highest in PCB section. The highest marks in PCM section is 195, scored by Aaditya Abhang.

This year, around 4.36 lakh students had appeared for MH-CET, 14% more than last year when 3.82 lakh students had registered. However, only 4.19 lakh students appeared for the examination.

For the first time, agriculture aspirants also registered for the MH-CET, as Maharashtra decided that admissions to seven undergraduate courses will be done on the basis of the aspirants’ scores in the state and national entrance tests, including MH-CET.

The exam was conducted at 1,260 examination centres, 150 more than last year when it was held at 1,110 centres across the state.
