RIDERS FINISH OUTSIDE POINTS BRACKET

SUZUKA, JAPAN: In a disappointing finish for Honda Racing, Rajiv Sethu and Anish Shetty finished outside points following a dismal qualifying round in Race 1 of the Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC) at the Suzuka circuit. MUMBAI: Heavy showers greeted the city for the first time this year as Kenya came back to beat New Zealand 2-1 in their first-ever Fifa recognised meeting in the Intercontinental Cup on Saturday night.

Debutant Sarpreet Singh, of Indian origin, opened the scoring for New Zealand with a leftfooted finish just before half time. But Miheso Cliffton pulled one back for the Harambe Stars in stoppage-time before Ovella Ochieng netted their winner in the second half at the Mumbai Football Arena. The Kiwis seemed lifted by the downpour in the first half, creating a host of chances but could not quite find their finishing boots, much to their eventual dismay.

Sarpreet, New Zealand’s best player on the night was in the thick of the action -- first creating a chance for striker Alex Rufer -who scuffed his shot over the goal. Minutes later, Sarpreet found himself through on goal but his tame shot did not trouble Kenya’s custodian Patrick Musotsi. Kenya’s best chance in the first half fell to Erick Ouma. The left back was fed by Ochieng and he out-muscled a Kiwi defender before unleashing a shot that struck the cross bar.
