KUALA LUMPUR: As many as six Malaysia batsmen fell for duck as India bundled them out for just 27 to register a resounding 142-run victory in their opening Women’s Twenty20 Asia Cup match here today. Electing to bat, India scored 169 for 3 in their allotted 20 overs, riding on senior player Mithali Raj’s unbeaten 97 off 69 balls, and then shot the home side out in just 13.4 overs in a completely lop-sided match at Kinrara Academy Oval here.

Dhananjaya returns to squad after father’s funeral

NEW DELHI: Sri Lanka batsman Dhananjaya de Silva is ready to join the team in West Indies, 12 days after his father was shot dead in Colombo. According to Espncricin­fo, de Silva, who had pulled out of the tour because of the tragedy, has changed his decision and wants to return to cricket. However, the 26-year-old, who will be reaching the Caribbean after travelling for more than 30 hours on Monday, is unlikely to feature in Sri Lanka’s playing XI for the first Test that begins at Port of Spain on Wednesday.

Rabada wins South Africa’s top player prize

JOHANNESBU­RG: Kagiso Rabada, the world’s No 1 Test bowler, was named South Africa’s Cricketer of the Year. The award came at the end of a 12-month period during which Rabada, 23, was a consistent match-winner. He took 72 wickets at an average of 19.52 in 12 Tests going back to a series in England last July. Rabada went on to be Man of the Series when South Africa beat Australia in a controvers­ial four-match series.

Stokes out of Scotland ODI and ‘first part’ of Oz series

LEEDS: England all-rounder Ben Stokes had been ruled out of the ODI against Scotland next weekend and the “first part” of the five-match series against Australia with a torn hamstring, the England and Wales Cricket Board announced on Sunday. Stokes suffered a left hamstring tear in the build-up to the second Test against Pakistan. Middlesex batsman Dawid Malan has been drafted into the squad for the Scotland game in Edinburgh on June 10. Kent batsman Sam Billings has been called into the squad for the series against Australia.
