18YEAROLD MAN DROWNS AT JUHU

MUMBAI: An 18-year-old man died after drowning near Mora village in Juhu. According to police, Murti Subramania­m, the deceased, had gone with his cousin for a swim when he drowned. “Lifeguards rushed to the spot and brought out the boys, but one of them was declared dead,” said an officer from Juhu police station.

Air India to revise excess bag charges

MUMBAI: Air India announced plans to revise excess baggage charges from June 11. The charges are increased by ₹100 per kg to ₹500 per kg for domestic sectors. Baggage for economy class travel will attract 5% GST whereas it will be 12% for other classes.

Train services on CR delayed by 20 minutes

MUMBAI: The services on the trans-harbour line of the central railway (CR) were delayed by 20 minutes during peak hours on Wednesday evening. It was caused by a technical glitch near Turbhe railway station. The glitch was rectified by 6.30pm.

Man who strangled father pleads for bail

MUMBAI: A man and his friend, who strangled the former’s 72-year-old father in January over a personal dispute, have approached sessions court for bail. The police had recently filed the charge sheet against the duo and recorded statements of local residents.

Party leader booked for molestatio­n, absconding

MUMBAI: A vice president of a political party has been charged for allegedly molesting, and stalking a woman, 32. The victim complained to the local crime branch, Palghar after which, he was called for questionin­g on May 31. An FIR was registered on June 2. The accused is absconding.
