Websites sport banner on Modi govt’s feats

-

NEW DELHI: The websites of all government departments and ministries now sport the “48 months of Transforming India” banner, in a bid to promote the government’s policies and achievements with less than a year remaining for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

In January 2016, the NDA government ruled that the banner on all government department and ministry websites should be a common one, promoting the government’s achievements but this wasn’t implemented till May. In the last week of May, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (Meity) asked all ministries to host the banner which includes a photograph of Prime Minister Narendra Modi waving along with a tagline that reads “Saaf Niyat, Sahi Vikas”. (pure intention, right development).

The banner, on clicking, takes the viewer to the website 48months.my.gov.in (previously my.gov.in). The website hosts a performance dashboard on the “impact of various schemes and initiatives” of the government. A ministry of home affairs Official confirmed the move.

“A communication in this regard has been sent by the Meity secretary to all other ministries including the ministry of home affairs which has been asked to host the banner on all websites of the paramilitary forces besides hosting the same on MHA’S official website,” said an MHA official. Government officials said the move was long “overdue”.

One of them said that “technical reasons” were behind a common banner not being shown on the websites until now. “It’s done and citizens can now view achievements of the government.”
